The BTBC Scottish Highland Tour 2020

May 2nd, 3rd, 4th 5th & 6th, 2020 (**5 Days**)

Welcome to the new 5 day format for the BTBC Scottish Highland Tour 2020. The plan is to meet up North of Carlisle at 09:30 prompt on Saturday morning. We will then be away at about 9.40am from the only services that were on the A74(North bound) (Now the new bit of the M6) north of Carlisle. If you get as far as the M74 at Gretna, you've gone too far. The services or Todhills Rest area as it's now called, is now a Petrol Station {Shell} and a Costa Coffee, it's just after the old HGV weigh bridge on what was the A74M (ring or txt me if you want suggestions for Friday night digs on 07768 405222). From the meeting point we'll take an interesting and complicated route up through the Scottish Borders to then Cross the Clyde. Then it's over some stunning passes to our first Hotel. After a good meal and a wee drink and some sleep (Always a good night), we'll rise the next morning to head up the West Coast via a spectacular route to Applecross. Here we will spend the next two nights, giving us the opportunity for a day off, or to explore more of Scotland, a trip to Skye, Cape Wrath, or Loch Ness, are all within day-trip distance. As usual, we have already got permission to have a fire and party on the beech if the weather is good, so whichever of the two nights has the best forecast will become our annual BTBC Beech Party (Very special, weather permitting). For the first time, Tuesday we will take a new and interesting rout to include more gorgeous scenery as we head East for pastures new. Eventually, we will end up at our final Hotel before more food, drink and banter. Wednesday morning, after a relaxed breakfast, an hour or so will see us in easy reach of Glasgow or Edinburgh well before lunch, for our early split and the ride home. This is a truly spectacular trip well worth the effort. The new format will allow us to visit new pastures as well as avioding the very long run home from Applecross, allowing people further south to easily make it back home in daylight. This trip is always over booked and can only take a limited number due to the accommodation used. If you've done it before you know to be very quick. If youíve not done it before you should make an effort to be quicker still and secure your place on this fantastic tour. Most of the roads we use North of Glasgow are grin factor 9+. As always it is strictly first come, first served with regard to rooms, so don't hang about.
